TUCSON - Another round of isolated storms and near record heat on tap to wrap weekend.
High pressure will supply enough moisture and instability to support another set of afternoon storms. Best bet for storm coverage today will be across Pima and Santa Cruz Counties with the biggest threat being gusty winds, blowing dust and periods of heavy rain.
High pressure will also supply another unseasonably hot day with temperatures topping out near 105. The record high for August 18 is 106 which was set back in 1987. If we can get that hot this afternoon it will be third straight day with record breaking or tying temps.
Daytime highs slowly come down later this week with a daily shot of isolated storms. Stay with News 4 Tucson on-air and on-line for further Monsoon Storm Alert updates. Track the storms with our Interactive Radar & get severe weather alerts on your phone by texting "MONSOON" to 95990.
