'Justice for Trayvon' rally draws Tucson crowd

TUCSON, Ariz. - The push for civil rights charges against former neighborhood watch leader George Zimmerman has drawn more than 200 people to a rally in Tucson.

The crowd of civil rights and religious leaders, University of Arizona students and others chanted "Tucson, we won't forget" during Saturday's gathering at El Presidio Park.

Rallies were taking place in more than 100 cities around the country on Saturday to demand a federal case. Zimmerman was acquitted last week in the shooting death of Trayvon Martin.

A rally was also planned Saturday outside the federal courthouse in Phoenix. Another is planned Monday at Grant Park.

In Tucson, the names of victims of violence and injustice were read aloud.

One of the organizers, Shannon Franklin, said Saturday that people need to be willing to speak up against injustices and laws that precipitate injustice.
