TUCSON - The Kitchen Cops were busy once again this week as they continue to find eating establishments that just aren't cool enough. There was also one restaurant that saw a chance for an excellent rating go up in smoke.
China A Super Buffet received 3 critical violations. A cook was observed smoking outside wearing gloves. He then re-entered the kitchen wearing the same gloves and then handled food. Another cook wiped wiped sweat from her forehead and then went back to making a sushi roll. Several kitchen items had food debris encrusted on them. All the violations were corrected with the inspector on site giving China A Super Buffet, at 75 West River Road, a good rating. Owner Wei Ming Lu says they have instructed all of their employees on proper hygiene in the kitchen.
Nicos Mexican Food received one critical violation. a make unit was not keeping food cool enough at the required 41-degrees. pooled eggs were found at 49-degrees, ham and shredded cheese at 44-degrees. the inspector also found fly strips with an excess number of flies on them. All violations were corrected during the inspection earning Nicos Mexican Food, at 11855 West Marana, a good rating.
Last week we told you about Rosa's Mexican Food at 1750 E. Ft. Lowell, receiving a needs improvement rating. The Pima County Health Department has confirmed that Rosa's passed it's re-inspection.
