TUCSON - This Halloween week Pima County Health Inspectors had nothing "too scary" to report in the latest edition of Kitchen Cops.
Coffee X Change, at 2443 N. Campbell Ave., received one critical violation. When the inspector tested the facilities dishwasher no detergent or cleaner could be detected being dispensed in to the machine. It was also noted in the report that a two compartment sink needed counter repair. With violations not corrected during the inspection Coffee X Change, was given a "Needs Improvement" rating.
The Pima County Health Department has since confirmed that Coffee X Change passed it's re-inspection.
Plaza's Sonora Mexican Food, a mobile restaurant, received three critical violations. When inspected there was no running water in the unit. The Pima County Health Department requires an operational water source must be present to meet the demands of a food establishment. Hot food tested below the required minimum 130 degrees, with grilled peppers temped at 119 degrees. With violations not corrected with the inspector on site, Plaza's Sonora Mexican Food was given a "Needs Improvement" rating.
Last week, we told you about Umi Star Restaurant, at 2502 N. Campbell, failing a re-inspection of the facility. The Pima County Health Department has confirmed that Umi Star passed it's re-evaluation on October 28th.
Restaurants awarded "Excellent" ratings include, Tortillas Don Chava, at 2013 s. 4th ave., Jack's Original BBQ, at 5250 E. 22nd St. and Carrabbas Italian Grill, at 7635 N. Oracle Rd..
