TUCSON - The discovery of an ingredient that was not part of a dishes recipe was just one of several critical violations for a local restaurant.
Golden China Restaurant, at 7018 E. Golf Links, received six critical and four non-critical violations. Two dead cockroaches were found in a container of powder chicken base. Several live and dead cockroaches were observed throughout the facility. A cook was seen preparing food without first washing her hands. The same employee was then seen wiping her nose with her hand. Bowls and utensils had food debris stuck to them. Shelving was covered in heavy grease, food and dust debris.
Non-critical violations cited several areas in the kitchen in need of cleaning. With six critical violations, Golden China Restaurant was given a "Provisional" rating.
Los Betos, at 3567 N. Oracle Rd., received seven critical violations. A cooling pot of beans was temped at 81-degrees. Potentially hazardous food, not immediately served, must be cooled to 41 degrees within four hours. A french fry cutter was heavily encrusted with food debris. An employee washed a knife in running water. Utensils must be properly cleaned with soap and sanitizer. With seven critical violations, Los Betos was given a "Provisional" rating.
Restaurants awarded "Excellent" ratings include, Mother Hubbard's Café, at 14 W. Grant Road, El Charro Cafe, at 7725 N. Oracle and Schlomo's & Vito's Deli, at 2970 E. Skyline Drive.
