TUCSON - Cold weather blowing in this week may not be good for a business that sells frozen drinks. But the establishment did have plenty of visitors.
Xoom Juice, at 2739 E. Speedway, received two critical and one non-critical violation. During the time of the inspection the facility was experiencing a severe cockroach infestation with live and dead roaches observed by the Pima County Health Inspector.
The inspector also reported observing all blenders with a build up of dirt and food debris inside the containers. Blender lids had mold and dirt stuck to them. All food contact surfaces must be clean to sight and touch. The non-critical violation cited heavy dirt and food debris buildup under equipment. With violations not corrected during the inspection, Xoom Juice, was given a "Needs Improvement" rating.
Xoom Juice management released a statement saying, "This is the 1st "Needs Improvement" we've gotten in our 12 year history, and we have never had a critical violation. We've fully addressed both issues and look forward to resuming our excellent health inspections."
Two weeks ago News 4 Tucson reported that Chicken Nuevo, at 3102 E. Grant, failed an inspection. The Pima County Health Department has confirmed Chicken Nuevo has passed re-inspection.
Restaurant's awarded "Excellent" ratings include, Brushfire BBQ Co., at 2745 N. Campbell, Falafel King Restaurant, at 1800 E. Ft. Lowell and Charley's Grilled Subs, 5870 E. Broadway.
