Last "cool" June day before another heat wave arrives

TUCSON - Enjoy this afternoon, because next week's looking hot.

Highs for the 2nd straight day fail to reach triple digits, according to News 4 Meteorologist Jeff Beamish. Expect mostly sunny skies, lighter winds and a slim shot at a shower or storm in the Chiricahua Mountains this afternoon.

Then comes the "Triple Digit Train".

High pressure off the California coast advances toward the state by the weekend, expanding over Yuma next week. 100's return by Friday, with daytime highs reaching the 104-106° range the middle of next week.

The Monsoon looks mostly off the next week or so, as any moisture sits just south of the International Border.
