Lifesaver Tip: Choose U.S Coast Guard approved life vest over floaties

TUCSON - Safe Kids Pima County is very clear about its recommendation. If parents are choosing between arm floaties or a U.S. Coast Guard approved life vest, they should pick the life vest.

Floaties can slip off a child's arms very easily, and they often do.

When choosing the right life vest for your child, make sure it's U.S. Coast Guard approved. Also, make sure it has the proper fit. Arizona Game and Fish says, it should fit "snug like a bear hug" and pass the "touchdown test."
