Local siblings pay it forward with "Lock Boxes of Love"

TUCSON - A local boy's battle with cancer has inspired his sister to "Pay it Forward."

Emma Lock's brother, Chase suffers from a rare form of cancer. As he sits in the hospital, getting treatment in Phoenix, Emma and her family are working on "Lock Boxes of Love."

It was all inspired by a single moment, when someone else made a thoughtful gesture for Emma. Her brother was getting a lot of attention and, one day, someone brought Emma a gift.

Emma remembers it clearly, telling Kristi's Kids "...I got some presents...cuz they knew that he got more presents and so they tried to make me feel good too."

That's when "Lock Boxes of Love" were born. Chase helps Emma collect stuffed bears, blankets and toys so they can ship them to other kids. Volunteers help out too, when the family's busy with treatments.

So far, they've sent over 50 lock boxes to kids who have a brother or sister fighting cancer. Their goal is to expand the effort and reach more kids, just like them.

Emma says, her motivation is simple. "I love making people happy."

Chase is currently in treatment, and will be for the next nine months or so.
