Loud start to the week for Monsoon 2013

TUCSON - Storms start the week off with a bang.

The line between dry desert air to the east and Monsoon moisture triggers scattered storms today, according to News 4 Meteorologist Jeff Beamish. Areas along and west of an Oracle-Tucson-Nogales line stand the best chance of storms between 1-6 PM.

Some storms today may become severe, capable of damaging winds and locally heavy rainfall. Activity will be more isolated in nature across Cochise, Graham and Greenlee Counties.

Drier air wins the forecast tomorrow, limiting the thunder threat to the isolated variety. A new tropical disturbance adds more moisture to the southern Arizona atmopshere by mid-week, increasing storm chances to the scattered variety.
