PHOENIX (AP) - Phoenix police say a 46-year-old transient has been arrested in the theft of several assault weapons from a Wal-Mart store in northwest Phoenix.
Police say Daniel Justin Miranda was arrested after citizens called police to identify Miranda as the suspect. Media outlets had published photos of the suspect in the Friday morning theft.
Office James Holmes says one of the stolen rifles was recovered later Friday when officers saw it being sold in a hotel parking lot, but the person who sold the rifle fled and could not be found immediately.
According to Holmes, police located Miranda and arrested him Tuesday.
Miranda as jailed on suspicion of burglary and other crimes. Court records don't show whether he has an attorney.
