PEORIA, Ariz. (AP) - A man and his girlfriend who were both critically burned in a Peoria house explosion are improving but face a long road to recovery.
Authorities say 32-year-old Beau Zimbro and 21-year-old Tiara Del Rio have been in a medically induced coma since the day after the Oct. 15 explosion, believed to have been caused by a natural gas-line break.
Arizona Burn Center doctors at Maricopa Medical Center say the couple won't be leaving the center for at least two months.
They say Zimbro has first- and second-degree burns over 60 percent of his body while about half of Del Rio's body is covered in second-degree burns.
Peoria police say Zimbro and Del Rio were inside the house when she lit a candle that acted as a detonator for the explosion.
