NOGALES - One of Tucson's Most Wanted men has been arrested trying to get back into the United States through the Nogales Port of Entry.
Customs and Border Protection officers at the Mariposa Port arrested Carlos Ulises Martinez, who is wanted in connection with a 2007 murder in Pima County. A records search found the active warrant as Martinez tried to cross the border, Friday.
Earlier in the day, a Mexican national was arrested by officers inspecting passengers arriving at the Mariposa Port aboard a tourist bus. Jose Garnica-Melgoza, 32, who lives in Bothell, Washington State, was taken into custody after officers confirmed his identity as a suspect wanted on an outstanding arrest warrant out of that state on Possession of dangerous drugs.
In fiscal year 2012, CBP officers at Arizona ports arrested 401 people wanted for crimes such as murder, rape, assault, robbery and other criminal activity.
