TUCSON - Marana Police are investigating a brush fire believed to be started by three juveniles.
Northwest Fire responded to The Santa Cruz River between the Twin Peaks and Cortaro Farms Road exits just before 5:00pm Monday after receiving reports of a fire.
Northwest Fire tells News 4 no structures were in danger, but access to the fire by large pumper trucks was limited. Crews used hand tools and the brush truck to fight the fire, which was wind driven and estimated to be about a half an acre in size.
The Marana Police Department was called to the scene after witnesses notified firefighters of information regarding several juveniles that may have started the fire.
Three juveniles were cited and released back to their parents for reckless burning. Their ages were not released.
