TUCSON - The well-advertised Winter storm is on the doorstep.
Gusty winds up to 20 MPH develop today ahead of a cold front, according to News 4 Meteorologist Jeff Beamish. Despite the wind, this afternoon features plenty of sun and highs in the low 80's. Cloud cover increases during the overnight hours.
Widespread showers and mountain snow move in late tomorrow morning, lasting through early Saturday morning. A Winter Weather Advisory is in effect for areas above 4,500 feet from noon Friday until 4 PM Saturday. Locations from 5,000-7.000 feet could see 3-6" snow, with a foot likely for Mount Lemmon.
The weekend forecast will be chilly, but dry as highs top out 20-25 degrees cooler than today. Another 80 degree run starts up next week.
