WEYMOUTH, Mass. (AP) - A state investigation says there's no evidence of substandard care in the recent deaths of two women after childbirth at a Weymouth hospital.
The Patriot Ledger reports that a complaint was found invalid in one of the cases and the Department of Public Health says in the other case it was unable to determine the validity of the complaint. The state report was released on Friday.
In one case, the state said no record of an evaluation of the patient before the use of anesthesia could be found, although the anesthesiologist recalls performing the evaluation. The state investigator found this deficiency was not related to either death.
The hospital said the findings are consistent with its longstanding position that the staff did everything possible for the two mothers.
