MEXICO - Uncertainty surrounds the fate of Mexican-American singer Jenni Rivera.
Rivera was on a plane which left early Sunday from the northern Mexican city of Monterrey where she held a concert.
The plane was on its way to the central city of Toluca when it went off the radar, according to Mexican authorities.
A search is now underway for the aircraft, a U.S. registered Learjet 25.
Two pilots and four other passengers are also missing.
The 43-year-old Rivera is known for the Mexican regional style known as Grupero music.
She recently won two Billboard Mexican Music Awards.
Rivera was born in Long Beach, California to Mexican immigrant parents.
