TUCSON - The Miracle on 31st Street toy drive is short on toys.
Ramon Gonzales started the tradition on his street 42 years ago.
"I have never had to turn a kid away telling them that there are no toys," Gonzales said. "So I don't want to start tomorrow."
The event has moved from the South Side to Ava Amphitheatre at Casino Del Sol. It goes from 8 a.m. until 2 p.m. Saturday.
They expect more than 10,000 kids. Children will eat a hot meal and see Santa arrive in a helicopter.
Beatriz Vidal volunteered with several others sorting toys and packing gift bags Friday.
"It's a great event to help our needy children in our community," she said.
They would usually accept cash, but it is too late. They really want people to bring toys to Ava on Saturday morning.
