Monsoon calm before the storm

TUCSON - A few isolated storms possible Sunday before monsoon activity ramps up.

Our monsoon ridge of high pressure is shifting east today which is allowing slightly drier air to move into Southern Arizona. According to Meteorologist John Patrick, this afternoon will be fairly calm compared to yesterday with just a few hit or miss storms capable of locally heavy rain.

Moisture is back on the rise heading into Tuesday and so are our storm chances. An upper level disturbance will interact with that moisture to possibly bring widespread storm coverage to Southern Arizona. The biggest threat starting early Tuesday will be heavy rain leading to flooding issues.
