Monsoon vacation to start holiday weekend

TUCSON - Monsoon 2013 taking short vacation to start the holiday weekend.

Labor Day weekend kicked off with a few isolated storms mainly stuck in the higher elevations. According to Meteorologist John Patrick, the winds in the upper levels of the atmosphere were too weak help push storms into the valley floors.

Sunday sees a similar set up with isolated storms possible but once again they will favor the mountain tops to the south and east of Tucson. The storms that do develop will still be capable of heavy rain which may cause some flooding concerns for Labor Day campers.

As we tap into more moisture on Monday storms should become a little more numerous and have a better chance to make it to the valley floors. Daytime highs will once again reach the triple digits by Labor Day with little change in temperature for the upcoming week.
