SIERRA VISTA, Ariz. (AP) - Authorities say the wildfire south of Sierra Vista now is nearing 20,000 acres but is 15 percent contained.

The U.S. Forest Service says the Monument Fire that began Sunday has charred 19,335 acres.

There were more mandatory evacuations Friday on the west side of Highway 92 from Stump Canyon, north to Ramsey Canyon Road.

The Cochise County Sheriff's Office says about 3,000 total homes and 12,000 people have been evacuated so far.

About 50 homes south of Sierra Vista have been damaged or destroyed by the flames including seven in the Stump Canyon area.
