Mutilated pitbulls dropped off at Humane Society

TUCSON - Two filthy and abused dogs were found tethered to a fence outside the Humane Society by a night shift security guard.

Pima County Sheriff's deputies are investigating it as a case of animal cruelty.

The two dogs-- both pitbull mixes-- were found malnourished and covered in dried feces, Humane Society spokeswoman Samantha Esquivel said. One of the dog's ears was completely missing

Esquivel says the inner ear of that dog was exposed and infected. Both 3-year-old dogs had bite marks and scars.

Both dogs are currently being treated at the Humane Society.
