TUCSON - Granite memorials of fallen Tucson police officers have mysteriously appeared in Tucson since April. There are a total of 7, including one in Phoenix.
The memorials are dedicated to the officers who proudly served the citizens of Tucson and who paid the ultimate price to protect us.
The granite memorials can be seen throughout Tucson. The design is simple but it carries a powerful message.
So who researched and took the time and money to place these memorial markers. We checked with Tucson Police Foundation. Rob La Master is the executive director. He says, "I have no idea somebody put some money into it, and some time and some thought and some effort. We're very glad they did."
A facebook page says each memorial was donated by local businesses and concerned citizens of Tucson who want to remain anonymous.
La Master says, " I think if people don't want recognition we should honor their wishes and just say thank-you."
The facebook page also says each memorial has been blessed and is now hallowed ground for all generations to share.
La Master adds, " I think it's important to the community that the community recognize that there are people who have made sacrifices on their behalf."
These are the officers who have died in the line of duty.
