New regulations for Arizona's trampoline parks

TUCSON - A bill signed into law by Gov. Brewer is aimed at making trampoline parks safer.

House Bill 2179 now requires trampoline parks to register with the Department of Fire Building and Life Safety and show proof of a minimum one million bodily injury insurance.

Republican Rep. Doug Coleman of Apache Junction brought the bill forward when an Arizona woman said her son died after injuries he sustained at a Phoenix trampoline park.

The woman said trampoline parks are not safe enough because they are not regulated properly.

The new law requires when the trampoline park registers with the Department of Fire Building and Life Safety, the Department is required to keep a database of all trampoline parks, and to make available to the public a company's proof of insurance, emergency calls made to the business and inspection certificates.
