TUCSON - An Old Pueblo tradition is back!
News 4 Tucson is proud to announce the annual Ice Break contest is officially underway. We formally invite you to guess the date and time (down to the minute) that the Tucson International Airport hits 100° for the first time in 2014.
As locals have joked for years, once Tucson hits triple digits, the proverbial "ice" on the Santa Cruz River breaks.
The first 100° day typically comes on May 27th, according to News 4 Meteorologist Jeff Beamish. The earliest 100° day came on April 19th, 1989, while the latest occurred on June 22nd, 1905.
What's your prediction? Click here to enter the contest & read the official rules. Grand prize winner nets a trip for two to Cancun, Mexico. Good luck!
