MARANA - A resolution has been passed by the Town of Marana that establishes a quiet zone in all public and private railroad crossings. Under the resolution a train will no longer blow its horn when going through an intersection.
There will still be flashing red lights, crossing bells, and the railroad crossing gates will go down when a train goes through an intersection.
The resolution comes after several Marana residents complained about the loud train horn.
Town of Marana engineer Keith Brann says they have met all the safety regulations. "We have complied with the Federal Railroad Administration for the quiet zone. It is warranted and can be done."
