Nogales woman sentenced to prison for wire fraud

A federal judge has sentenced a Nogales woman to nearly four years in prison for defrauding her former employer.
Prosecutors say Rosa Maria Gutierrez, 55, pleaded guilty last year to 25 counts of wire fraud, and was sentenced this week.
Gutierrez worked for Chamberlain Group, a garage door manufacturer, between December, 2005 and March 2011.
Authorities say she was one of two employees who created an account to pay vendors.
Prosecutors say Gutierrez billed Chamberlain for fictitious goods and services, and deposited more than $1.2 million directly into her bank account, before her crimes were detected.
Following her prison term, Gutierrez will be monitored on supervised release for 36 months.
The judge also ordered her to pay restitution totaling $ 1,862,254.41, which includes the cost of the investigation. She will also be prohibited from jobs in which she has access to other people's money.
