NORAD is ready to track Santa's flight

PETERSON AIR FORCE BASE, Colo. - The North American Aerospace Defense Command is prepared to track Santa's yuletide journey!

The NORAD Tracks Santa website goes live Friday, November 30 at 7 p.m. EST, and features a holiday countdown, games, daily activities, and video messages from students around the world. It can be used in eight languages: English, French, Spanish, German, Italian, Japanese, Portuguese, and Chinese.

Official NORAD Tracks Santa apps can also be downloaded to smart phones and tablets, or track Santa on Facebook, Twitter, YouTube, or Google+.

NORAD Tracks Santa started in 1955 when media advertised a way for children to call Santa directly, but misprinted the phone number. Instead of reaching Santa, the phone rang through to the Crew Commander on duty at the Continental Air Defense Command Operations Center, thus beginning the tradition.
