Oak Fire has charred more than 13,000 acres

SAFFORD - The Oak Fire, still burning near Safford, Arizona has charred more than 13,000 acres.

The fire was caused by lightning on June 17, and is 15 percent contained. Due to the recent rain and high humidity, the fire activity is low, but crews remain available if lightning strikes in the region.

Firefighters are containing the fire within the National Forest boundary in the Galiuro Mountains using four engines, six helicopters and two Hotshot crews.

Closures remain in the area.
