TUCSON- U.S. Marshals hit the streets and rounded up nearly 200 fugitives statewide who were involved in property crimes. It was dubbed "Operation Grinch Stopper II. The Marshals Az. Wanted Violent Offender Task Force together with local and state law enforcement cleared over 240 felony warrants.
Jordon Tefft, deputy U.S. Marshal says, "When we work together, the job gets done faster, more efficient, and the community can be a safer place ."
Donald Laird was one of the targets. He's wanted for violating the conditions of his probation. His original charges, burglary. He's one of the fugitives picked up here in Pima County. James Stanley is another one. He was wanted for failure to appear in court. His original charge was stolen property. Both were handcuffed and taken to the Pima County jail.
The officers also seized stolen items such as motorcycles, and weapons. They prioritized fugitives with extensive criminal histories who continue to commit crimes in our communities.
Statewide, 27 agencies participated, locally nearly a dozen. This included the Pima County Sheriff's Department and Oro Valley Police
