Overnight fire claims a dog's life

TUCSON- An overnight fire in midtown claimed the life of one dog and left the residents of the house displaced.

According to Tucson Fire Captain Barrett Baker, firefighters responded to the 100 block of North Camino del Norte just after midnight.

Baker said the resident of the house awoke to loud noises and found the kitchen on fire.

The resident was able to escape the house and call 9-1-1. Firefighters arrived four minutes later and were able to rescue another dog from the home.

Baker said it took firefighters ten minutes to bring the fire under control.

The cause of the fire is under investigation.
