PHOENIX - Former Alaska Gov. Sarah Palin says she believes Americans will be open to an overhaul of the nation's immigration policies, but that the federal government will have to secure the nation's borders first.
Palin weighed into the nation's immigration debate Saturday when she and Arizona Gov. Jan Brewer led a walk through downtown Phoenix to raise awareness about child abuse.
A group of four Democrats and four Republicans in the U.S. Senate are trying to craft legislation to overhaul the country's immigration policies.
The group is expected to release a plan Tuesday.
Brewer told Fox affiliate KSAZ that more border agents and surveillance technology are needed along the border.
