TUCSON - The mother and father of Roman Barreras were formally indicted on child abuse and murder charges Monday.
The boy's father, Martin Barreras, has been charged along with his wife of first-degree murder of the 3-year-old boy. Originally only Racquel faced murder charges.
Both Barreras face one count each of child abuse and concealment of a dead body, according to the indictment.
The indictment alleges that Racquel and Martin "committed child abuse under circumstances likely to produce death" between April 2013 and January 2014.
Roman Barreras' bones were found in a box at a rental home March 4. Tucson Police later arrested Martin and Racquel.
