The Wildcats will battle the Bruins on the gridiron Thursday but before you head to the game, beware. The University is having to change up some of its regular parking practices to accommodate the extra traffic.
Since the game is on a Thursday there will be about 50,000 students and employees on campus. Then factor in another 50,000 or so football fans and you are bound to see some congestion.
"There's some overlap there and of course that makes it somewhat of a challenge for us to have adequate parking for everybody ," said Bill Davidson, marketing manager for Parking and Transportation Services.
To help ease that challenge there will be some changes. About 1300 employees and students will have to park in a different space on campus Thursday. The permit holders affected have already been notified but they usually park in Cherry Garage, National Championship Drive or in Lots 6090, 6092, 6093, 6097 and 6098. It is the same parking model used during last year's Thursday game when the Wildcats hosted the rival Sun Devils.
"Everything went very smoothly, went very well," said Davidson.
To make things go even smoother you can now input your permit number on the Parking and Transportation Service's web site to get a map of your temporary space for that day.
"We had no complaints as far as people being moved to new spaces," Davidson said.
The university is also reminding people that Sun Tran and Cat Tran are good alternative ways to get to the game, also carpooling. In fact if you ride with 4 or more people to the game, parking is free.
