TUCSON - Pima County Sheriff's homicide unit investigating a body found in the desert Monday morning by a passerby. It was found near San Joaquin and Snyder Hill road on the Southwest side around 6:30 a.m.
Investigators say the body had obvious signs of trauma.
Nearby resident, Margaret Sandova, says she and her husband left a little before that and saw the sheriff's deputy and a pickup truck. They first thought the truck had broken down. Imagine her reaction when she learned there was a body. "We're shocked", she told news 4 Tucson. "We've lived in the area for over 10 years, and we've never had any problems at all. No shootings, so it's scary."
The body was found just off the road. Detectives used the latest technology called the Leika Scan Station. It's a system that diagrams the crime scene in 3-d. It might help them determine whether the man was killed in that spot or dumped there.
If you have information, detectives are urging you to call 911 or 88-CRIME.
