TUCSON -A father is in critical condition and his 5-year-old son is in stable condition, after they were injured in a rollover near I-10 and Sunset Road, Monday night.
The man, 28, was ejected from his truck when it rolled shortly before midnight, said Northwest Fire Captain Adam Goldberg. The truck rolled in a gravel area at a cement plant west of the interstate, said Goldberg. Another driver spotted the accident and called 911. It's uncertain if that driver knew the father and son, said Goldberg.
Pima County Sheriff's Deputy Jesus Banuelos says speed and alochol played a role in the crash. He says the father had been four-wheeling through the area when it happened. "We know people enjoy these type of outdoor activities, but we would like to urge the public to be safe when doing so," Deputy Banuelos says. "Taking part in these activities during the day would probably be a better idea."
Charges are pending against the father as the Pima County Sheriff's Department's traffic unit continues investigating the accident.
