TUCSON - A man is in serious condition after he was hit while crossing Grant Road, near Alvernon Road, according to Tucson police.
The man was not in a crosswalk when a vehicle driving west struck him shortly before 9 p.m., said Sgt. Mary Slyter.
Police have not released the man's name. They say he was taken to the hospital with life-threatening injuries. The driver was not cited.
Westbound lanes on Grant aren't expected to re-open until around midnight.
At the time of the accident, officers were just a few blocks away on Alvernon Road conducting grant-funded patrols focusing on pedestrian violations, such as jaywalking.
