Pedestrian killed in hit and run Friday night identified

TUCSON - We now know the name of the man killed in a hit and run accident Friday night on the South Side.

Tucson Police say 50-year old Daniel Cordova died from his injuries at the hospital.

On September 13 at 7:08 p.m., officers from Operations Division South responded to a report of a hit and run collision involving a pedestrian in the 2800 block of South Mission Road. Upon arrival, officers found Mr. Cordova with life-threatening injuries. The vehicle involved in the collision fled the scene.

Detectives from the Traffic Investigations Unit determined that the suspect vehicle was southbound on Mission Road. According to a witness, Mr. Cordova was seen on the west curb moments before the collision. He was struck in the southbound lanes of Mission Road and the suspect vehicle was last seen southbound on Mission Road.

The suspect vehicle is described as a light color, small to medium size SUV. The vehicle may have front end and/or windshield damage. Anyone with information is urged to contact 911 or 88-CRIME.
