TUCSON - Identity theft has quickly become one of the most organized and costly crimes happening today.
The Pima County Sheriff's Department has partnered with Shred-It to host several "Shred-A-Thons" coming up on Saturday, May 17.
The goal of these events is to raise the awareness to the public and educate them about identity theft. By shredding old documents, you can decrease the chances of thieves stealing and assuming your identity.
The event will be from 8 a.m. to 11 a.m. at Casas Church, 10801 N. La Cholla Boulevard. The service is free.
This will be a drive-through shredding service. An attendant will go to your car and transfer all your documents to a bin for shredding. No more than 5 file size boxes full of paperwork will be accepted per car.
Documents from businesses will not be accepted.
When the trucks are full, the Shred-A-Thon is over.
