TUCSON -- Rincon senior running back Kevionte Alexander spent last season in the shadows of the Rangers backfield.
"We had a lot of other running backs last year so he played receiver, the slot position, he wasn't our true I-Back last year," said Rincon football coach Nate Gahn.
Headed into this year, Gahn was looking for Alexander to become more of a leader on and off the field.
"He told me than I need to be a leader out there, I'm going to have a big role, and I accepted it," said Alexander."
Alexander's new role this season has paid off for Rincon. Last Friday night, Alexander powered the Rangers to victory with 297 total yards and four touchdowns in Rincon's 44-26 win against Marana.
