TUCSON - Police have identified the driver who died several weeks after a single-vehicle traffic collision on August 12.
Ofelia M. Sanchez, 52, succumbed to her injuries on August 27. She was recovering in a long-term care facility when she was transported back to a local area hospital for complications, according to a news release from TPD.
On August 12, at about 3 a.m., Tucson Police officers responded to the 3500 block of North Flowing Wells Road to find a four-door vehicle involved in a collision, the release stated. Sanchez was the driver and sole occupant, and was transported to a nearby hospital.
Officers determined the car was traveling north on Flowing Wells at a high rate of speed when it crossed into oncoming traffic, striking a light pole, parked car, and the side of an apartment building. Alcohol appeared to be a factor, the release stated.
