TUCSON - The Powerball jackpot has climbed to $425 million for Wednesday's draw, making it the largest jackpot in the game's history.
Since this jackpot started growing on October 6, there have been more than $2.7 million in prizes awarded in Arizona alone, including a $1 million second prize and 13 $10,000 winning tickets, according to a news release from Arizona Lottery.
"This is truly an exciting time for the Arizona Lottery, since the Powerball jackpot is offering the largest jackpot in the game's history," said Karen Bach, director of budget, products and communications for the Arizona Lottery. "If the jackpot rolls again Wednesday night, we will be looking at a jackpot upwards of half a billion dollars!"
The cash option for the $425 million jackpot would pay out $278.3 million before taxes, lottery officials stated.
Tickets for the new $2 Powerball game can be purchased at any Arizona Lottery retailer until 7:59 p.m. Wednesday evening.
