MARANA- When professional golfers tee off at 7:30am, 40 greenskeepers have to keep early hours to make sure the greens are up to par.
"Well it's pretty amazing process and it really starts three or four months out to prep the golf course. Obviously the overseeding time of the year is the biggest time of the year," says Jody Tavarez, Director of Egronomy at Escalante Golf.
On the morning of the big show every single one of those 40 greenskeepers work swiftly to ensure the pros have the best conditions possible.
" There is a pin placement everyday for the PGA and we go by their guidelines on that so it's pretty straight forward."
Once the PGA sets the placement a crew carefully fills the old and places the new cup.
"We have two guys who go out with a cup setter who will actually go through the process of cutting the hole and it's inspected very closely by the setup officials."
When it's all said and done Jody holds his breath and hopes for the best.
