Prescott police: Jogger wounded when shot in alley

PRESCOTT - Prescott police say a 22-year--old man is hospitalized in stable condition after being shot in an alley while jogging.

Lt. Ken Morley says an unidentified person shot Michael Maddux in the abdomen in a residential neighborhood in northern Prescott early Friday morning.

Morley says Maddux wasn't able to provide many details and that police are trying to piece together what happened.

A handgun was found at the scene. Morley says the bullet went through Maddux and that police will use a metal detector to try to find it.

Police are advising Prescott residents to take precautions.

Morley says that means people note their surroundings and call police about anything suspicious.
