Purse snatching suspect arrested after accident

TUCSON - Tucson Police arrested a man Saturday after he allegedly stole a 70-year-old woman's purse.

It happened at the Food City near Campbell and Irvington.

Police say the suspect drove up to the woman who was sitting in a car and tried to steal her purse.

She resisted and ended up with a few cuts.

The man grabbed it and took off in his truck, but a good samaritan saw what happened and followed him.

The suspect then crashed his truck into another vehicle at Tucson and Drexel.

That driver managed to snap a photo of him and got his truck's license plate.

Meanwhile the good samaritan confronted the suspect and he threw the purse down.

Police were able to use the photos to track him down, at his home near Drexel and Campbell to arrest him.

The good samaritan returned the purse to the victim.

The suspect will likely face robbery, as well as hit and run charges.
