TUCSON - A car fire has shut down the westbound lanes of Speedway at Stone, police said.

The car was stopped at Speedway and Main when it started smoldering, police said. A mother and her family were able to get out before the engine caught fire.

A tow truck driver attempted to put the fire out with an extinguisher.

If driving in the area, consider alternates like Drachman or Sixth Street.
