NOGALES - As National Guard troops prepare to deploy to their posts along the Arizona Mexico border, their impending presence is getting mixed reaction.
Paul Bracker, a store owner in Nogales does not think the troops are necessary.
"I don't think the National Guard coming down to the border is going to be of much value. I think it's a political ploy, its a waste of time,"Bracker said.
And others say U.S. Border Patrol agents are enough of a force at the border.
"The border is already secure, they don't need anymore more troops for the people who are trying to come into Nogales," said Miguel Chavila.
But some residents support the deployment and said an extra sets of eyes and ears is imperative.
"I am in favor of them coming here because I think were under strengthened at the border. I don't think we have enough people on the border, its obvious of just the sheer numbers that come to the United States,"said Paul Montanez.
All 532 National Guard troops are expected to be in place by the end of September.
