TUCSON - The US Food & Drug Administration has issued two separate recalls involving popular dog treats.
The first involves Denver company, Kasel Associates Industries Inc. after a state inspection showed their dog treats may be tainted with salmonella.
Marketed under the brand names, "Boots & Barkley," "Nature's Deli, "Bixbi" and "Colorado Naturals" the recalled items include their pig ears, turkey jerky and hearts of lamb.
In a separate recall, Nutri-Vet is recalling its chicken jerky products, also for possible salmonella contamination.
If ingested, salmonella can make pets sick and can also sicken humans who touch the tainted food. Symptoms include diarrhea, vomiting, abdominal cramps and fever.
All recalled treats can be returned for a full refund.
