Red Cross: Shelter provided for fire evacuees

RYE, Ariz. (AP) - The American Red Cross says it's opened a shelter for people evacuated because of a fire near Payson.

The blaze started Saturday night near Highway 87 in Rye, about 10 miles south of Payson.

The relief agency says that 20 to 30 people have been evacuated.

The type of the blaze wasn't immediately clear, but the Red Cross says the fire was near a mobile home park and at least one mobile home was destroyed. There was no word of any injuries.

The dispatch office of the Gila County Sheriff's office said it couldn't provide information, and official spokesmen weren't immediately available.
