(NBC News) It's being called the most destructive fire in Colorado history.
The Black Forest wildfire has consumed at least 360 homes and forced tens of thousands to evacuate.
"This fire was very hot, very intense the winds were helping fuel the intensity of it," said El Paso County Sheriff Terry Maketa. "We see where homes were lost...they were complete losses."
Firefighters are now getting help from the military.
Helicopters and two C-130 cargo planes have joined the air assault.
High winds continue to make conditions for firefighters, both on the ground and in the air, difficult.
